Player Spotlight: Adz

In each and every forum, there are different people who play different roles. Some people are known for being annoying, while others are known for being the nicest players out there. There are some who don’t seem to know anything, and those who seem to know everything. Of course, every community also has a user who dedicates him/herself to the community in whatever way they can.

This backbone for the community is generally well-liked. They know everyone, and always extend a helping hand. They regulate the community and make sure we follow the rules. In all honesty, any community would fall apart without someone like this. That’s why it’s a good thing that Atmosphir has such a user.

With his recent promotion in the past few weeks, I would say that this would be a good time to acknowledge him for everything else. Today, I’d like to give the Atmosphirian Player Spotlight to a player who knows what they’re doing. They love their title and they love their job. You don’t have to look far to find him, as he always seems to be around.

This week, I’d like to give the Atmosphirian Player Spotlight to none other than Adz.

Adz has been around since the beginning, and he’s proud of it. He’s seen every change that Atmosphir has gone through, and watched every player come into the community, and unfortunately watched some leave as well. When I first joined, Adz was the moderator of the Creative Spotlight board. As I mentioned earlier, he’s been promoted to head mod (and will correct anyone who gets that wrong).

From what I’ve seen of him, Adz is a fun-loving guy who thankfully knows where to draw the line. As a head moderator, he essentially has the job of moderating every board, which can be a large amount of work. Even with so many topics to sort through, he always has enough time to play a round of Half-Life 2: Deathmatch with Drfuzzyness, Marcod, Jjjohn and I every once in awhile.

If Boberto doesn’t beat you to a question, Adz will. He’s a sort of knowledge base for the community. If you have a question that can’t be answered, there’s almost no doubt he’ll be able to answer it. That is, of course, if it relates to Atmosphir. Anything else, I can’t promise. As I’ve said, he’s been around the game since its private beta release last year. If anyone has experience, it’s him.

If he’s not in the forums, he’s always in the live chat. Literally. I’ve only seen him disappear from the chat once, only to reappear several seconds later. Essentially, he is the life of the chat, the one who keeps it running. One of his bigger projects is Atmobot, everyone’s favorite IRC Bot. Without Adz, this would not be possible.

As I said, Adz knows when to draw the line. You can see constant reminders left by him to stay on topic, or locking threads if need be. It’s thanks to him that the community stays clean and productive.

There really isn’t too much I can say about Adz. He has a personality of his own that I think we all benefit from. So take some time to stop by the chat to talk with him. He’s definitely worth meeting at least once.

That’s all for today, Atmosphirians!
